Good movie, but what constitutes "IMAX"??

Great movie, nothing groundbreaking in the story or acting, but the spectacle itself was remarkable. I only wonder if it could have been better on a LARGE IMAX screen??... Which brings me to the question: What constitutes an IMAX screen? I've seen IMAX movies at the smithsonean before on gigantic screens that immersed the viewer into the movie. The theater where I saw AVATAR made me pay for a premium "IMAX experience", but the screen was a typical multi-plex sized screen. The 3-D was amazing, but I can only wonder how good it would have been on the IMAX screen I expected!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
