My boys and I absolutely enjoyed this movie! My boys read the books and looked forward to the movie; they both said that it did not disappoint! The mythology and modern references were great and the story really flowed. The acting was also engaging with Pierce Brosnan in another role where he gave his all (very under-rated actor). The special affects were fab!
This movie was perhaps the best that i have seen all year thus far! Peter Jackson called it right when he chose first-timer Neil Blomkamp to direct this film, which ironically he co-wrote. Everyone in the film is a 'first-timer" and what a refreshing experience it is. The acting is superb, the direction is flawless. But the real star of this film is the script, which oozes humanity and symbolism whithout being preachy. Parent alert: the R rating is for the "F" word throughout and much gore. A must see!
My boys are true fanatics about Transformers and I enjoyed the first movie as well as this one. There is no need to "over analyze" what we know to be "fluff entertainment" in the first place, but I did have a few concerns. The PG-13 rating pushes the limits regarding language...and there is a lot of foul language for the target audience of well, kids ages 8-18, so beware. Also, there were two characters who looked more like racial sterotypes than robots; but that is perhaps just my opinion. Overall, Michael Bay made a good movie that could be "tweaked' here and there.
This movie stinks! I took my 2 sons to see it, and while I knew that the movie had drug and explicitl references, i didn't know that it would be as extreme. The producers surely didn't think that parents would run to see this film with such crude humor. Not to mention, Will Ferrell (who is somewhat hilarious), phoned in his entire performance. It was like watching a "best of" comedy sketch for Will Ferrell! Save your money and wait for the $1.00 rental from Red box - it will be less painful!
The animation was brilliant! The story was tender and certainly in line with what we are going through today with our economy and the state of the planet. There were references that were over the heads of the little ones, but it simply encourages them to think and ask questions. My sons are 9 and 12, and they were full of questions after the movie. I welcome a film that forces us to use our brains and still stimulates our imagination, yet still entertains.
