I read the book and absolutely loved it. But the movie, not so much. I found that the movie was SUPER choppy and did not capture the spirit of the characters much less the story.
It felt like the makers were just making a movie for the sake of making a movie, instead of really developing the story and making it flow effortlessly on the silver screen as it did on the written page.
The acting, eh. It could have been better. But if your absolutely smitten by the cast, you might have a hard time being objective.
I feel that it could have been ten times better. Hopefully the following movies in the series (if they decide to make them) will improve.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
