THE GOOD: A script with many surprises: especially at the end. Definitely, a film that the will play to both young and old audiences.
Ryan Gosling’s swagger is definitely going to take him to the next level.
THE BAD: The film comes off being a little forced and not entirely believable.
THE UGLY: Steve Carell and Marisa Tomei seem to be typecast playing the same roles over and over.
MY SCORE: ****
(4 OUT OF 5 STARS)
Yes, I recommend this movie.

No Monkey Business Here!

THE GOOD: No Monkey business here! This prequel to THE PLANET OF THE APES (1968) sets a very serious tone. The question is… Will this film make you go ape sh_t?
THE BAD: Andy Serkis’ “Cesar” looks too CGI. You never believe it is a real chimp and unfortunately, that leaves this film without much weight.
John Litgow is past annoying.
THE UGLY: Tom Felton…
MY SCORE: ***

COMPLETELY CHARMING!

THE GOOD: This light and breezy film is perfect for the summer.
Tom Hanks pulls double duty in front of and behind the camera with great success. Not only does he know what he is doing, he is smart enough to pair himself once again with the always winning Julia Roberts. They are charming and so is this film.
THE BAD: Nia Vardarlos, who co-wrote the script with Hanks, gets the short end of the stick by not physically appearing in the film: we only hear voice the “Map Genie.”
THE UGLY: The fact that this film will get lost amongst all of the action films of the summer.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Potter is Half-Full...

The "Half-Blood Prince" is two and a half hours of set-up for the extremely exciting final chapter, or so I am told. What we have here is not so much. Instead of a receiving the impact of a beginning, middle and end... we get a lot of meandering.
It should be noted that this slow pace did not disappoint all of young fans who viewed the film with me. It was like we were seeing different movies.
I did not read the books, but have been a fan of all the films except this one.
I really wanted to like it.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
