The plot may be on the skinny side, but the performances, especially Bridges', are absolutely sublime. It's worth going to see this movie on that basis alone. An added incentive: you'll probably go home humming some excellent old-style country tunes, which are exceedingly well performed here by a talented collection of backup bands.
A thoroughly enjoyable comedy, beautifully acted by all of the principals. I'm beginning to think that Streep can do no wrong (with the possible of exception of her role in Mamma Mia)-- but I hasten to add that Martin and Baldwin were terrific, as well. This is a comedy for grownups that's not to be missed.
