This movie and the one before takes me back to being a child when I first read the Chronicles of Narnia and after the 10th time reading it as well. I loved the books and I love how the movie portrays the story. This is such a great family movie even the parents will enjoy, especially if they've read the books.
I'm not a Batman fan but everyone kept telling me what a great movie this was. At 2.5 hours it was entirely too long for a mediocre movie at best. Heath Ledger did an alright job with the role. Compared to Jack, Heath's role was much sinister and darker than Jacks who was crazy in a funny way. If it weren't 2.5 hours, I'd give it 3 stars.
I do realize this show failed like many to show diversity and like Seinfield and Friends, they rarely showed African-Americans in New York City...really because New York is definitely not diverse according to these shows. That being said, I refused to watch SATC when it was on television, but I did pick up the dvds from an online rental after they were off the air. . . They redeemed themselves only just a little by casting Jennifer Hudson in the movie. Yes, she's Carries assistant, but isn't just about everyone getting out of college in a major city. She's a college grad and has her head on straight in the movie. She did a great job and they made sure she looked fabulous...it is possible to look fabulous and not be a size 2. . . I must admit, the movie turned more into a fashion show. We know the show was known for showing new fashion, but it seems like they went advertising overboard on the show. Every person was always dressed up in designer clothes all the time. I know this is how it is with advertising in movies and shows now, but it was a bit overwhelming with the non-stop advertising. If you're wondering if this was just a lot of hype and the movie may not be good, I enjoyed myself so much...My eyes watered, I laughed and I wasn't the only one in the theater that felt the same way, ladies clapped and snapped. . . Oh, how I missed these ladies, especially Samantha and Charlotte. Miranda (Cynthia Dixon) was a bit annoying. Nothing new, felt like her character could have just been an episode in the show, we've seen it all before (in the show) with her in the movie. Charlotte, it was great seeing her as a mommy. My favorite Samantha, I was so proud of her. She still has the jokes and raunchy comments - that's why we love her. There was something that had Samantha frothing at the mouth! . . Carrie and Big get married! But if you've seen any commercials and such you'll see her in her wedding dress. Of course there's a twist to it, so I won't tell you now. . . Big...what can you say, you love to hate him sometimes but he's so darn sexy. They actually call Big by his real name in the movie and sometimes I forgot who the heck they were referring to because they always used to call him by Big.
The parents in the theater were laughing just as much as the children were. I had been waiting to see this since they started their mass advertising including the beginning of every movie at AMC with the panda asking you to turn off cell phones. When this comes out on DVD, I'll definitely be picking this up for my nieces and nephew and another copy for myself.
