I'll be honest, when I first saw the earliest trailer for Ironman, I was skeptical. To say the least. As a comic universe fan, there were simply too many ways to be disappointed... and only a few means to happy entertainment.
Fortunately, Jon Favreau has come through for us all. Ironman is a solid piece of entertainment... Action? Yes. Bad guys we love to hate? Of course. Characters you believe in or even like? Much tougher, but yes. While it could never masquerade as a terribly deep, soulful movie, it IS 100% well-written and executed entertainment for the masses. Best of all, you don't have to enjoy comic books to enjoy this movie. It also has the digitized effects we love to see, not to mention the smooth acting we ache for everytime we pay money to see a film, but give me a character I care about any day.
