As any adaptation goes, not everything will make it into the movie, so some fans will probably have complaints but all in all I thought they did a good job of bringing out the important points of the book. Kept me interested from beginning to end.
Both my grand-kids aged 9 and 12 liked the movie and laughed for most of it. If you saw a couple of the trailers you saw most of the good scenes. I actually fell asleep in the middle of the movie a couple of times as did my wife which is extremely rare. It was OK but that is about all I can say. See it at the matinee. We did see it in 3D and the effects were good.
Enjoyed the remake. Fairly well done even with the corny lines I have read about in critics' reviews. Don't waste the money on 3D though. This was a 2D movie with 3D effect added. I have seen the older Clash and this is definitely an improvement.
I think Tim Burton hit the mark on this one. I was entertained the entire time, which passed quite quickly as the movie kept you engrossed. My 9(boy) & 11(girl) yr. old grand-kids loved it and the boy never asked me "When is the movie going to be over". Johnny Depp made an excellent Mad Hatter. 3D was well done -see in 3D. I highly recommend this movie for any adult & kids over the age of 6. Kind of intense for the real young set. Only the parents can make that call.
I have ready many of the reviews and there is nothing new to add. I was totally impressed!. The 3D effects was brought to a whole new level. I was immersed in the environment. They did not try gimmicky 3D effects to make you jump or be impressed with what 3D can do. With the technology available today, I don't think it can get any better. The story line is not too bad either. I hope more of this caliber will be coming out soon. As a comparison, the movie Up! was actually better in 2D than 3D as it was just the in your face 3D that added nothing to the movie -- IMO.
This movie was very well done. Will keep you guessing until near the end. A little disjointed issues with some of the plot points but all in all a pretty darn good movie.
The movie itself met all mine and my grandkids' expectations. It just looked fabulous on the big screen in HD. Colors just popped off the screen. The intro content I had already seen so it was nothing new. Just seemed to be re-edited a little. The movie started on time but towards the end of the movie the picture went out but the audio stayed on which was kind of humorous. They eventually got it straightened out and the movie completed without incident. Though annoying it was not too bad of an interruption.
The picture and audio quality was excellent. There is too much left out which makes it difficult to understand much of what was happening. This should have been split into two movies like the last book. These books are too long to try to get everything in. They left out a lot of critical background info. If you read the book you had a clue, if not you are probably wondering What!?!
I enjoyed watching it but even with the PG rating it is not for the younger kids as a lot of the teenage relationship scenes will not interest them at all. Should have left it a PG13 and put in more of the Potter/Dark Lord conflict as after all is really what this is all about.
This movie has lived up to and exceeded all the hype preceding its debut. Absolutely incredible. There are a few twists to the plot line which really makes for a very credible movie. Showing Spock's and Kirk's youth history allows non-trekkers to identify with these characters. I have never been to a movie with so much applauding during and after the movie ended and from what I could observe, the vast majority of the full house were in the under 25 age group. Way to go. I will go see this again. Probably a little to intense for the smaller kids, but 8 yr olds on up should have no trouble understanding and enjoying the movie. Go see it!.
