Five of us went to see this silly movie. Four were ages 19-22, one was age 68. ALL of us thought it was a waste of time. The so called story did not engage us. The visuals were excellent but sometimes annoying. For instance the giant scorpions used as carriages was a rip off from Star Wars. Sam Worthington was handsome and macho and all the other stars did their best with a terrible script and foolish concept.
Having never seen the prior movie nor ever read the books, I found this movie an excellent adventure in its own right. Good acting by a cast that is, of course, much older than the high school kids they are meant to portray. Nevertheless, the story flows, the hunky actors glow and everyone has a great time. Please go see it.
Last night we attended the midnight opening in a theater filled with mostly college age adults. Without question, our group felt that this movie LOST IT. In production, someone forgot that even though the creators kept a story line in their head, somewhere the story that engrosses an audience was lost in editing. Attractive actors, excellent cinematography with lots of action sequences. However, WHO CARES when you are not involved with the event. All of us have seen prior Terminator movies. This one is totally blah
