So I appreciated the fact that the story needs to progress, and it does so with a lot of excitement and fanfare. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat, and it was awesome how a lot of things were coming together. But so many characters of old were left out of this movie altogether, and that was kind of sad to me. I wish there was a way they could have interjected what was going on with Snape. I missed Hogwarts, as it wasn't in any part of the movie at all. I miss the whole process of learning magic. I guess it's all part of their growing old, but I almost wish they were all young again and back at Hogwarts.
Other than that sniveling part of my review, the movie was pretty good. I think that some of the special effects weren't as good as they could have been, while others were fantastic. Because it was PART I, you knew you were going to be left on the edge of your seat at the ending, and unfortunately you were.
I love all of the actors. They are so invested in their roles, and that makes the movie all that much better.
I went to see this movie with my sixteen year old son. He's not an easy person to please, and of course, would have preferred to see a movie like Predators! We both loved it. We were surprised at how much we laughed out loud through the whole movie. There were some seriously funny parts throughout, and for all levels of audience members. I could hear little kids laughing all over, but just as much, I could hear the dads and moms laughing too. The storyline is great, and they do a great job of letting you connect with all of the characters. The animation is terrific - I honestly felt like I was watching a Pixar. Those little minions were awesome, and I predict that every kid will have one or two stuffed ones by the end of the summer (if they make such a thing). It was a terrific movie, and it was able to entertain all age levels.
So I went to see this movie with my nephew and niece who are both 9 years old. They absolutely loved it, there words were "awesome". As for me and my sister, we both liked it very very much. It was funny, creative, silly, and everything we expected it to be. We laughed at a lot of the silliness, and overall, it was a positive fun time!
The hype over this movie has been amazing, and I was expecting to be absolutely rocked. Yes, it was a good movie. Very exciting, fast-paced, etc. But I felt the storyline was much more predictable then I had expected. Gary Oldman is a phenomenal actor, and I felt he really excelled in his part. Heath Ledger was good, but you know his part was so one-dimensional that I can't understand why folks are making such a big deal about it. Maggie Gyllenhaal - well I don't know why she even gets parts, she is boring and not that striking.
Aside from all of that, it was good, and I would recommend people see it.
I expected an average movie, with some light humor and a low-ranking plot. Instead, I got a movie that kept me laughing consistently, had a good plot, and even the occasional surprise.
For those of you who remember the original Get Smart series, Steve Carrell will keep you laughing as well. I thought Anne Hathaway did a terrific job- and I find myself wondering if she did her own stunts.
There were some "oh my goodness" reactions for those of you with younger children. Gratuitous cleavage and crude humor. But nothing that I found overwhelming for my 14-year old son and his friend.
Overall, I give it an A+ because it delivered more than I expected, and kept me laughing throughout the whole movie. Definitely worth the money.
While not as good as the first movie, the second installation of Chronicles was still a very good movie. Fast-paced, it was full of a lot more action/fighting than the last one. Tense fight scenes throughout, it still made a good effort at keeping true to the story from the Lewis books. I think anyone who knows the Bible can see the parallels with Jesus, the world, and how we struggle today to keep the faith. The cast is tremendous, and I'm amazed at how great their acting skills are for such young people. The special effects are awesome too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the last movie, or who has read the books. It's a must see.
