Pacific Rim was my 'Must See" summer flick going way back to January. I mean c'mon, giant robots battling giant monsters? How could you go wrong? Answer? You can't. It was an awesome spectacle of coolness. I'm not going to give away plot points here, but I will say there was a plot and it was a good one. I actually saw this twice on opening day. I loved this movie.
Bottom line: Giant monsters rise out of the sea, mankind , over a 13 year period are driven to near extinction by the constant attacks of these giant 'Kaiju's' over that time they begin the 'Jaeger' program which is giant robots, to battle them. There are as lot of twists and turns in this thing including a few man to man fights and training tests which were as neat to me as the giant fights.
This movie DID borrow a bit from 'Star Wars' and 'Independence Day' but I can lie with that. Bpttom line is I loved this movie. It was the perfect summer blockbuster to me. and is now my favorite summer movie for the year.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I've followed the "Green Lantern" Comics for over 30 years, and in the past decade they have really gelled under the guidance of writer Geoff Johns who has brought Hal Jordan to new heights never before achieved. He was a creative consultant on the movie, and, as I had hoped he made sure this movie was true to the character. I've seen all the big movies the past few months and by far, this is my favorite. They did a bang up job on this flick. Hal is exactly who he is supposed to be, and I give Ryan Reynolds lots of credit for that. This movie was never dull and was an absolute blast to watch. This was a great , great superhero flick, my kind of movie exactly. To say I loved it would be an understatement. Sure they deviated slightly from the story in the comics, but it was 99% spot on. I was thoroughly thrilled with this movie, I hope it does a gazillion bucks at the box office. It's well worth seeing for the fan of the series as well as the casual observer. You won't be dissapointed! BTW, make sure you stay till halfway through the credits as there's another very important scene hidden there.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

We've waited 20 years for this one!

So after all the hype of the past 15 months it all came down to this:Was this worth the wait?. Well the answer is a resounding "Yes"! I saw this last night and was at the edge of my seat throughout most of it. Even the laid back scenes were excellent. My one slight annoyance with the film as when Stallone battled Austin. I'm not going to give anything away, but I would have liked a different end to that fight. Leave it at that. Otherwise it was downright awesome with a capitol "A". All great action stars together at last including the all to brief scene with Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was something all of us action fans have waited decades for. One can only hope the sequel has a longer amount of screen time between the three. Many surprises along the way, incuding a great aerial combat scene that I didn't expect. Statham is a true action star who can stand alongside with Sylvester Stallone. Jet Li was great as well as funny, Dolph was a little marble mouthed through the whole thing as a sort of lost soul, but he played his part very well. Randy Cotoure seemed to have the smallest role , but he played it great, which impressed me. Terry Crews was his usual crazy self and fit right in perfectly. Even Mickey Rourke gave a fine performance as their friend and non-combatant. But it all boils down to Sly, who turned in a great actioner from start to finish. Even the explosions made sense, not just random things blowing up with bodies flying through the air. It all made sense!Run to go see this , if you love the genre. This was a return to manly movies, without slack jawed wimps playing the parts of heroes. No one here was getting in touch with there so-called "feminine" side. They were just a bunch of tough guys kicking ass!!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Dark Knight !

In a summer of GREAT (Iron Man, Incxredible Hulk,) Mediocre (Hellboy II) and not so great (Hancock) Superhero movies, The Dark Knight stands out with the best of them. While I'm definitely NOT one of those to jump on the bandwagon and get all amazed about Heath Ledgers performance because he died as so many are doing, I will say his performance as the Joker was absolutely incredible. His Joker was the scariest bastard in Gotham. There was NOTHING funny about him. He was Freddie Kruger in mortal form. Christian Bale is being overlooked because of Ledgers untimely death, but his Batman is the one all others should be measured against. He is head and shoulders above anyone elses take on the caped crusader. Bale has made Batman his character, and it's really a shame that's being overlooked. He is amazing in the role.
The rest of the cast is simply stellar. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and especially Gary Oldman are each phenomenal. Aaron Eckhart is a great as the cities 'White Knight' , DA Harvey Dent and hope for a return to normalacy.
At 2 1/2 hours, it's a long flick, but it did not drag at all. I really enjoyed this movie. If there were any complaints it had to be for me the wooden performance of the saggy faced Maggie Gyllenhall, who did nothing for me as far as lead actresses go. She just filled a role. Katie Holmes was actually better as Rachel Dawes then Gyllenhall was.
I will not give anything away for those unfamiliar with the Batman mythos. Just see the movie, its worth it. A great, great flick and a worthy successor to 'Batman Begins'
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I went into this with middling expectations and came out satisfied. While it iwas no "Iron Man" Or "Incredible Hulk" it was a decent flick though I have to say I enjoyed the first one more. In this movie, the threat was to watered down by to many other things. I never felt that sense of urgency liker I did in the first one. I thought Herllboy's fight with the monster Wink was good but then the movie sort of bogged down and lost its focus a bit after that. The drinking scene was funny, and the fight at the end was okay, but something about it was really lackluster. Yes I enjoyed it and would recommend it, It was fun, just don't go in expecting mroe then that. Oh the monstrous creatures throughout are a hoot.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Warning! There are some spoilers below!
I was very trepiditious going in to see this film with Downey starring as Tony Stark. But I have to say, he hit the nail on the head wth his portrayal. Beyond all my expectations, he was an excellent Tony Stark.
What worked: Everything worked, everything. All the character portrayals were dead on exact, thoiugh I would have liked to have seen more Happy Hogun.
What didn't: The fight scene at the end was too short and too much of him getting his butt kicked for my tastes. It should have been three times as long and it should have been Iron Man winning a decisive victory against Iron Monger. But that was my one and only complaint. All in all ythis was the best Superhero movie since Spider-Man two. I loved it and can't recommend it enough
Go see this and be amazed!
