Funny, sensitive portrait

A great cast gives an amazingly sensitive but funny portrait of a quirky family whose members have lost touch with one another. It's about taking chances, sharing real feelings, and being true to oneself and to those you truly care about. A real high.

For sci fi fans, this was an amazing movie experience. Great characters, exquisite alien scenery, fascinating culture a bit reminiscent of every sci fi movie made, and an impressive adventure. Be forewarned, though, there are some pretty intense battle scenes and agressive characters for any child under 12 and even a bit too intense for our 13-year-old. My husband observed that this was Pocahantas and Star Wars combined. I would add Starship Troopers. Also, there was a little bit too much black and white to all the characters, they were either really good and brave or really exploitative and nasty. Nonetheless, it was a really fun movie experience, and I would definitely seen the film again.
