I was so excited to see this movie. Another disappointment. The trailers were the funniest pieces of the movie. It plods along. I love Johnny Depp, and Michelle Pfeiffer, but not this movie. This is why I don't go to the movies more often. The trailers are over-hyped - looks good, then I get to the theatre and the movie is the pits. I'd come to the movies more often if the quality was there. Next time, instead of wasting around $40 on tickets and snacks - I'll wait for pay-per-view for $5 and much cheaper snacks at home.
I just loved this movie. I love movies that touch on history, and anything British. This cast and movie absolutely deserved the Oscars they received. Go see it.
What an excellent movie. I agree with other reviews that we didn't need to see it in 3-D. It had everything - a cute plot, mystery, a villan who gets taken care of in a nice way, and a happy end.
It is so sad that MJ died. This would have been the concert of the decade. I loved the footage of the behind the scenes things that go into a concert. It was fabulous to see his dancing and how amazing he was with the music - to get everything 'just right'. I would recommend it, I will probably buy a copy when they sell it. I did not give it 5 stars because I do think it was about 30 minutes too long and I would have liked to see more background things.
The movie is a little dark - if you are not a Theatre, Dance, or Music major you may be bored. It was really fun at our Theater because the local Performing Arts HS did a performance in front of the theater before the movie and then they all came to see it. They cheered, clapped, and added to the 'soundtrack' of the movie. If not for them, I would have fallen asleep. It was a dark, no color film that otherwise would have plodded along with out the bonus of live students in the theater.
This was the best movie I have seen in a LONG time. There were so many sight gags, and jokes that were very very good - intelligent jokes. Hank Azaria steals the movie - he is absolutely hysterical!!
My favorite gag (I think they're the Wright Brothers), are commenting on Amelia Earhart's flying their plane and they are holding ice cream sandwiches from a vending machine.
This is a movie that I will want to see again just to see what I missed.
