Fun movie. A must-see for Ferrell fans. One of those movies that will only get better with countless re-watchings on DVD. I recently saw Dinner for Schmucks and this movie totally blew it away.
I'm a big Steve Carell fan. Several minutes into this one, I remember thinking "I hope this picks up a little or it's going to be terrible." And the laughs did pick up. A little. And I liked it. But it's probably one of Steve Carell's least funny movies. There are several big contrived scenes, where a lot of boring stuff has to take place to get all the characters in position for the hilarious scene. The pace of the movie feels like stop-and-go traffic on the highway.
Great cast produces several hilarous, memorable scenes. Not a classic like Made or Swingers, but Vaughn and Favreau do a nice job of adapting their comedy to married life.
Some scenes approach useful relationship lessons, but never get too serious or profound.
