Aside from the stunning 3D effects the storyline is kind of a mis-mash between Starship Troopers, Dances with wolves, The Last Samurai, with a little Alien for flavor.
It is a fairly heart warming story but quite predictable. Hardened man has a job to do that is distasteful, meets one of the entities he is supposed to help destroy and is convinced by them that he really shouldn't destroy them and takes arms against the other side.
The acting is actually quite good despite the animations and such. The avatars are actually quite amazing. Realistic to a fault. The 3D was a lot better than I expected.
I don't normally go for such blatant fantasy films but this one surprised me. The writing was fairly good and consistent.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
