Bride Wars is a very enjoyable comedy about what can happen when your childhood dreams rule your adult actions! There were plenty of great, funny moments in the film, a lot of which, unfortunately, you see in the trailers.
What you don't see in the ads is that this movie really allows Anne Hathaway to show her depth as an actress, and to shine like a diamond in the setting of this movie.
Along the lines of Bruce, Almighty, this is another very enjoyable film from Jim Carrey. I was never a big fan of his work in movies like Ace Ventura, but did enjoy him in the aforementioned Bruce, Almighty, and the like.
This movie is entertaining, doesn't drag, and it was pretty funny. I will say though - it deserves it's PG-13 rating. We saw several parents bring children in the 5-10 year old range, and there are definitely some inappropriate bits in teh film for children of that age.
That said - take your 13-and-up kids and have a blast! I did with my daughter!
While this movie is not a light-hearted, easy movie to watch, it is definitely one of the most profound movies I have seen in a long time. The acting was good, the storyline did drag in a few places, but overall moved along quickly. The thing that really got us was the overall story. While I'm quite positive life in concentration camps was still sugar-coated by this movie, it gave a great view of the German mindset, the struggle internally amongst the Germans, and the treatment of the Jews in WWII. I took my 14 year old daughter to this movie, and would take my 8 and 10 year old sons as well. This is an important movie, and everyone should see it.
Lovers of the book may love the movie for it's link to the story, but never for the actual content of the movie itself. From the plotline, to the acting, to the make-up, Twilight was one disappointment after another. I do think the casting of Robert Pattinson as Edward was good - something I did not think when it was annouced.
However - Summit really needed to invest more in the screenplay, directing, acting, special effects, and make-up. This movie had the potential to live up to Harry Potter standards, and sadly, it fell far short.
