This is the most fun I've had at the movies in a long time. The first half of the film is a campy, comedic, violent adventure that would satisfy any comic book fan. The final chapter of the film turns very dark and bleak filled with brutal violence and an emotional, suspensful tone that is perfectly paced and emotionally acted. The performances are all solid, done comically and seriously when needed. However, Chloe Moretz steals the show as Hit-Girl, who is incredibly talented and really slips into this character very easily. I think we can expect to see a bright future from Chloe. The film is controversial but not anything that hasn't been seen on screen before. It is rated R and that rating should be taken seriously. This film is not for children and it was never intended to be. This film is aimed at an adult audience, parents need to be responsible about what their kids watch rather than blaming films' content (which kids shouldn't be watching anyway because it's rated R!).
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Enjoyable but Disappointing

A semi-enjoyable film but a disappointment overall. It stayed close to the Lewis Caroll characters but seemed to lack imaginative direction, despite its interesting visuals. The film just seemed to lack a certain direction, along with it's mundane, boring, and predictable storyline. The magic, wonder, and fun that should've been expected is very short lived and the fantastical aspects really never amaze the viewer and lose their impact half way through the film. Tim Burton just seems as if he got lazy, even though he did deviate a bit from his usual style. Children might enjoy it more than adults but might have a hard time with its boring pacing.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Flawed but Great

This movie is far from perfect. There are flaws in the inconsistency of Batman's fighting, in the first film he moved lightning fast and was barely seen but in this movie he isn't as mysterious, he actually fights slowly with his opponents one at a time, making him look very vulnerable and not as terrifying as in "Batman Begins'. Did he forget his ninja skills and fighting techniques? Some other flaws are gaps in the storyline, bad editing, and some weak acting from some of the supporting cast. However, I do still give this movie 4 stars out of 5 and that's because Heath Ledger's performance really took this film into another dimension. He was terrifying, funny, and very realistically brutal. Also, the action sequences, visual direction, special effects, and pacing will grip you and not let go of you as you sit on the edge of your seat. It has flaws but manages to deliver the darkest Batman story ever on screen and one of the best action, suspense films of the last few years.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Better Than The First

This film is much better than the first. Guillermo del Toro really stepped things up a notch on many levels. The special effects are much better and used in a more epic format. The story and characters are also much more in depth than the first film, more dialogue and character development. The film at times still feels like it could be better, however it still manages to be a lot of fun and filled with action and amazing fantasy-like visuals and creatures. Very imaginative!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Decent But Lacks Magic

Overall, this is a decent, fun film. However, it lacks any of the magic that the previous films possessed. This one looks like it was rushed with a very loose plot (very silly at times) and absolutely no realism, as this time it seems that Indy is invincible and nothing in the universe could ever harm him. It is still a decent action/adventure film but don't expect to revisit the magic and nostalgia of the previous classic films.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Impressive!

I watched this without any expectations because I am not an Iron Man fan. I had the toy as a kid in the mid 80s and maybe read one or two comics, if that, so I have no special bond with the character. However, this movie blew me away! This is what a superhero movie is supposed to be and this is probably one of the best superhero movies ever made. Solid story, acting, visual effects, etc... It's not just a dumb summer blockbuster but it actually has enough weight and meaning behind it to carry it beyond just being a mindless action film. Very enjoyable!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
