This movie had me thinking I was watching Kevin Smith's interpretation of the making of Clerks. All of his friends, scraping by, pulling everything together to make an AWESOME FLICK! The casting is excellent, the directing is excellent, it was hysterical, if anything you have to watch is a few times to catch everything you miss while laughing!
The low points in Lakeview Terrace were all too prevalent and while Samuel L Jackson did great in this flick I'm just not sure that I can give it more than 3 stars. I get why the bigotry existed for SLJ's character, but just felt a lot of it was so forced and far-fetched and ultimately pointless and baseless. Not a bad one for a home watch.
The Brothers have done it again with Burn After Reading and wow, what a cast! This kooky look into the vain and oftentimes moronic behaviors of humans with an espionage twist is classic and no character was overshadowed by another. They all blended into the roles and made for an extremely entertaining flick!
Hands down Iron Man was and will be one of the best movies of the year alongside The Dark Knight of course. I had really been looking forward to Iron Man and it definitely was everything I was hoping for and more. I honestly don't believe that anyone would have been better for this role than Robert Downey Jr and everyone else was stellar as always. Make sure not to miss this one and check out all the cool toys!!!
Angelina was phen-omenal in this movie, she's definitely baaaddddassss, no question about it, and she proves it in Wanted. Morgan Freeman, as usual was great and James McAvoy played the part, starting to make a name for himself out that in Hollyweird. I will say there were a couple of things about the base storyline that I didn't care for and didn't make a lick of sense, but the action and car scenes made up for it.
From the onset with the "previews" I was expecting Ben Stiller's Manson skit from the Ben Stiller Show to appear. This movie was hy-sterical! Everyone did a great job and was incredibly funny, especially Robert Downey Jr, which was the most surprising to me. Only had a couple of lulls, which were bearable. Make to check this one out!
This movie seriously cracked me up and I will definitely have to catch it a couple more times to see what I missed, but it was definitely very Fast Times-ish. There's no doubt it's a stoner flick and it's pretty stupid, but Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen and everyone involved in this really pulled it off. Seth Rogen really threw himself into this, not only acting, but producing and writing as well, much like with Superbad and it shows. James Franco really had me going, he has a knack for this sort of humor and had the total stoner role down pat. While it's not the sort of humor that everyone gets, I would definitely recommend Pineapple Express to anyone who appreciates this sort of humor and wants to laugh.
I'm having a hard time finding anything redeeming about this flick, other than maybe Michelle Yeoh, who I really feel is a remarkable actress. Luke Ford I can do without, at least right now, and the casting of him for Alex did jive with me. The movie was choppy, I didn't like the overall story-line, even though I went into it thinking the resurrection of this terracotta army would be awesome, and the acting/directing was just not up to par with whatI know these guys can all do. Overall I left shrugging my shoulders, commenting that I just was not a fan of this one.
This is the kind of movie that I can't wait to have at home where I can bust out singing and dancing along with Meryl, Amanda and a bunch of girlfriends. The adaptation from Broadway to the movie screen was excellent and really made for an enjoyable and feel good movie. I too agree that Pierce Brosnan doesn't need to sing, but he's so dreamy who really cares? They can't all be triple-threats you know and so I digress and say that I felt the casting was excellent. Julie Walters and Christine Baranski were so much fun and there is no question about the quality of actress Meryl Streep is. Amanda Seyfried really held her own in the movie and is proving to be someone to really keep an eye on. Definitely grab your girlfriends and check this one out!
This was by far the best of the Batman movies and everyone in it, from Christian Bale to Heath Ledger to Aaron Eckhart did a phenomenal job at really pulling you into this movie. The Joker is one of the most psychopathic characters since Hannibal Lecter and there is no question that Heath deserved the attention his portrayal was garnering. Maggie was a great substitute for Katie Holmes, very elegant and played well into Batman's playboy lifestyle, which Christian Bale does so well with. A must see for anyone!
