I was looking forward to Iron Man 2, and while it did not disappoint from a visual or story telling perspective, it was not the burst of fresh air that the original was. The pace was very workman-like, moving from point to point with efficiency, but there wasn't the sense of watching something magical as much as being aware of a movie trying to hit all it's plot points by the 2 hour mark. I thought the performances by all the principals were very good, but the direction they went in with the Tony Stark character (even given his reason) was a little questionable. As always, Robert Downey Jr. delivers his usual screen magnetism, and I though Don Cheadle was excellent in replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey. Overall, a very good summer popcorn movie, if not a transcendent act of film-making.
