Good movie, just because no Almodovar movie is bad... But it's a bit simple (for him) and definitely short on fresh ideas... We will see if he re-invents himself, but for now he has already produced enough masterpieces to secure the place among the greatest geniuses of world cinema... Even if this movie is not one of his greatest...
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The cast is excellent and the movie is well done. However, the idea that politicians are corrupt and cynical is not new. In my view it would have been more interesting to explore more the symbiotic relationship with media and actual compromises that politicians make to govern, which usually have to do with money and powerful interests, rather than making interns pregnant. However, Ryan Gosling was excellent and so was Evan Rachel Wood.
A great movie, if you have patience. Typical Sokurov: amazing quality, a clarity of each shot, the mood and subtext perfectly expressed. Outstanding, but don't look for action! Recommended to all art cinema lovers
The movie is good and could have been called excellent if it were any other director. But perhaps for the genius of Almodovar it's a bit too simple. In my view all his other movies of this decade including "Habla con ella", "Todo sobre mi madre", "Mal education" and, of course, amazing "Volver" are stronger. Perhaps a romantic love story is not his strong suite:). That said I would still recommend this very good movie, which is enjoyable and beautifully done.
Good movie, nostalgic, emotional, but most likely to resonate with russian speaking audiences. It's about coming of age, but full of cultural references hard to understand for others. The only thing it reminded me too much Shakhnazarov's first very good movie that brought him fame about 20 years ago. It was a coming of age tale also, but in a different time. I haven't seen what he had done in between, but this one is too similar...
