It's crude, it's sophmoric, it's even outrageous (and offensive)... and that's what they meant to do. I haven't seen the first Harold & Kumar movie yet.... never really wanted to... until now. This is funny stuff!
By now you shouldn't need me to tell you to go see this... you should have already read plenty of possitive viewer reviews and maybe even heard from folks, first hand, that this movie is exciting and worth seeing. But, if you need me to tell you, then here 'ya go: Go see this.
Yup.... this turned out to be dissapointing for me because I expected Jackie Chan and Jet Li to be in a great movie. Of course they were both exceptional fighters, but it was just ANOTHER kung-fu movie with all the same stunts you've seen before (if you're older then 18).... a VERY typical kung-fu movie. I drowsed off a couple times and didn't care if I had missed anything. On location scenery was beautiful and so were the actresses, but I'd tell you to wait for the rental if you insist that you just have to see it.
Just got home from seeing this and I have to say that I was surprised to have liked it. I wanted to keep watching and I wanted to see how it all worked out. The best parts were not revealed in the trailers, and it turned out to be a well cast, and well acted movie. An average suspense movie overall.
I took my almost 4 yeare old daughter and she sat and watched the whole thing. I was entertained as well. It was a great daddy/daughter date movie. I'm sure she'll make me add it to her DVD collection when it comes out. Of course, I'm cool with that.
I'm guessing that the bad user reviews are coming from folks who expected something else. Not sure what though. Truthfully, I went expecting a movie the women will like and the men suffer through watching it.... that's not what I got. Both my wife and I liked it very much. This movie is good. Very good. The acting was fine, the plot was good, the scenery was spectacular and so was most of the CGI..... I'll add it to my DVD collection when it comes out.
Very entertaining. Kept us engaged. The plot gets wonderfully complicated. This is a good thing because if all the crazy stuff didn't happen, these bumbling idiots would have been caught within hours of their bungled bank robbery. Funny lines and overall a very good movie to see.
This movie is obviously targeting a 15-17 year old audience.... nobody told me that. The first 20 minutes of the movie is spoon fed to the viewer (maybe they felt they had to give an audio subtitle to explain what they were showing on the screen. The next hour or so has decent action and they spoon feed a little less. The last 10 minutes just provide a hokey opening for the sequel. So.... it's like a 90 minute trailer for Jumper 2. If you have a decent home theater set up, you'll enjoy the DVD when it comes out.
First of all, don't go to this movie expecting Tom Clancy like scientific or operational accuracy.... it's a fun, action packed, Hollywood sensation film. Don't expect perfect continuity and don't expect to learn the first thing about how the Secret Service actually does their job. It's fun, It's relatively intense, It's basically the "good against evil" plot with lots of bullets flying. If that's your thing, go see this on the big screen.
