It was a very interesting topic, but the script was poor. The dialogue often seemed to consist of somewhat disjointed or random comments. I was figuratively scratching my head as to why this or that character said something and how it relates to the story. I thought it might be the translation in the subtitles, but my Spanish husband said the subtitles were translated fine. Also, I am a big Garcia Bernal fan, but he seemed to be sleep-walking through this movie (holding his son's hand and looking somewhat dazed).
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I am not a western fan, but this movie was great. At first the formal, stilted dialog bothered me, until I realized that is probably how they talked back in those days. The best acting is done by the girl, but she doesn't even get in the top billing. Josh Brolin is listed before her- go figure.
