HP and friends have grown up before our eyes and it is finally showing in their acting. Fantastic performances by the 3 teenage stars, and of course by Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon and the delightful Evanna Lynch! The cinematography is beautiful and special effects believable and eye-catching. The changes to the original book are minimal, but when necessary, effective. While several plot points were missing, I never felt that they disrupted the overall arc of the story or that it will be impossible to include them later. Overall, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the movie. So much great humor, believable drama and genuinely creepy moments that it felt like a very solid film!
Clever adaptation and expansion of a short story, although not quite worth all the hype. Great performances from Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt. My big objection is that acting accolades are more due to the CG dept. than to Pitt. He did a fine job and it was a fine film, but nothing extraordinary to warrant an Oscar nomination. Good story, but one that can be told in less time. They do a good job of helping the audience feel like they are sitting through the length of a man's life...but do we really have to be there for ALL of it? Overall, I really did enjoy the film. I simply think that Hollywood gets too excited over a few big names and gives, perhaps, a little more credit than is warranted by performances or end results.
