Having been a Star Trek and science fiction fan for many years I was not excited to learn that the franchise's 23rd century history line had been changed. Yet, I was not disappointed in any way. The storyline has opened up an entirely new franchise option. The actors did a wonderful job in bringing life to characters we've known for 40 years. My wife was very happy to see that you don't need to know anything about the Star Trek universe to enjoy this film - you won't be lost in the plot.
Anyway, just go see it and enjoy yourself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
