It's hard not to focus completely on Heath Ledger's performance. If he were still alive, I think he'd still be getting high acclaim for this but it wouldn't have the same poignancy. He took the Joker in such a marvelously twisted direction; I found I couldn't wait to see what he did next while at the same time my moral center was both dreading it and felt horrified that I was enjoying the experience. There's a lot going on in this movie and overall I thought it was really good. I feel like we didn't get to see enough of Bruce Wayne in this, but with the frenetic pace and so many other storylines to deal with, at least we had Batman Begins. I hope Nolan directs the next one, and I hope he can continue to focus on the plot and the characters. Don't get me wrong, the special effects were great, but I've seen too many movies that get distracted by the "let's see what we can come up with next".
Yes, I recommend this movie.
