Not as painful after all

Many of the reviews I read on this site were extremely negative, but I must say that while the movie was not particularly great, it was at a minimum, mildly entertaining. Unfortunately, it was also predictable, confusing and way too dark. Wait for the DVD and a night when there's not much else to watch on TV.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Interesting and Intriguing

As a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan, I'm am always perplexed that the critiques destroy his movies with their harsh reviews. I firmly believe this man is brilliant and while his movies don't do well in the mainstream, we need to consider his message and his artistic talent. His plots are always intriguing, his characters are very likeable even with their human failings and this movie is no different. This may not appeal to the teen crowd who finds movies like Zohan to be spectacular and will actually stand in line for fluffy entertainment. This movie is definitely worth seeing. Don't go in expecting lots of action because it is a thinking man's movie. Every message is subtle. It's a facial expression or a sound that you need to watch out for. I loved the Village and Lady in the Water which were both box office flops by today's standards something I have never understood. If you love movies you should see this one!
