The entire movie was in 3D, a real surprise from our past experiences with this element. Worried about the length of the movie and its ability to keep us interested and involved. Shouldn't have. The movie was excellent. A fairy tale quality with a lot of realism included. Best of both worlds. Already recommended this movie to our relatives and friends. Wouldn't mind seeing it again to catch what we may have missed the first time.
My husband and I went to this movie on a whim Thanksgiving Day since the kids were gone. Really enjoyed the whole thing. There were many references made that young kids wouldn't get (musical selections and references from the 1950's including hairstyles and 'beatniks') and we found ourselves looking for more as the movie progressed. Good clean humor although there were some bathroom references that kids would relate to. We have already recommended this movie to my sister, so, yes, it's a good, well-done 'clean' movie for those of us who are tired of movies that have given us a headache by the time they are done. Oh, and the little kids behind us had a great time, too!
We enjoyed this movie much more than the last Harry Potter film. That one had me cringing every time Harry cried - and he cried a lot in that one. This one had better character development. This was the first Harry Potter we have seen in IMAX 3D. Although the IMAX part was nice especially when there were panoramic scenes, the 3D part was supremely disappointing. We spent more time watching trailers for upcoming movies in 3D than the time Harry was in 3D. It almost took more time to get the glasses and put them on than to actually wear them. Out of a 2 1/2 hour movie, the 3D part was 10 - 15 minutes perhaps. Not worth spending the extra money, unfortunately.
