Brilliant! Ignore the moralistic nonsense of some reviewers. The film is tender, compassionate and incredibly moving. It explores the world of a boy who is beginning to intuit the complexity of the world around him throuh his own anger and loss of control. The movie is lyrical and deeply existential in its treatment of loneliness. I took my 9 and 5 year old to see it. My 5 year old cried, but mostly out of compasion for Max. I find nothing wrong with a child being moved to tears by a powerful film. This is not Disney and those who prefer it should stay at home.
