Speed Racer, Slow Down

It's official, the summer movie season is in full swing. The second arrival, Speed Racer, delivers a high action, visually stunning, animated cartoon come to life. The movie is very good, and there's plenty to keep the kids entertained. Adults who watched the original series as children will find several referrences to the source material, but it doesn't get obnoxious. This is Speed Racer for the new millenium. There's lots to see and it may take a couple of viewings to see everything which is probably going to make this movie a monster DVD release in a few months. Overall, a good movie but the young ones may have trouble sitting for the entire 2 1/2 hours which includes preview trailers.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great movie, and an excellent beginning for the summer movie season. Fans of the original comic book will not be dissapointed. those of you who have never read the comics will not find anything to far fetched to understand. If you've managed to keep up with all the comic book adaptions that have been hitting movie theaters, you'll have the plot figured out pretty quickly, meaning the story is somewhat predictable but is still a lot of fun. The movie is full of excitement and great visuals effects. I give a lot of credit to Marvel Studios for producing a nearly 2 hour movie. Many of the studios today are trying to produce shorter movies and reduce the storyline in an attempt to squeeze more showings of the movie per movie house. Nothing is scrimpoed on here. Just remember to load up at the snack bar before the movie. Enjoy.
