I've seen it twice now, and watching the Joker's scenes was simply riviting. The second time, I would watch the audience and the they were all rivited to the screen and the just taken in like I was. The scene(s) during his capture and incarceration will go down as among the best performances of all time. I am hearing best supporting actor. I wonder why can he be best actor? I would go see this movie just on the premise of watching Heath Ledger, although the rest of the movie was of a calibur you don't see much of anymore.
All I can say is, are the critics crazy? This movie had it all. This movie went from the beginnings of your average great superhero movie, but then got into his whole story of who and why he was.
Hey it's not a blockbuster, but I really liked it. You know after you leave the movie and you come away liking what you watched and after you talk about it, you really liked it!
Going to see it a third time with my girlfriend. That should tell you enough! It was better the second time as I was able to see the subtleties much more. I am actually excited to see it again to pick up on something new....
Although it wasn't what I expected, it had all the great things a movie should have: love, family, loyalty, brotherhood. It was cool how all the human qualities we respect and strive for now, were evident back then, and it wasn't hokey at all!
