Welcome to the Dawn

In a pivotal point in this movie, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) claims that "the night is darkest right before the dawn." With the slew of subpar superhero and action movies that have plagued American cinema, we have been sitting through a pretty prolonged night. Christopher Nolan's second Batman film is the definitive example of a potential new dawn in the genre.
The Dark Knight is even better than its highly acclaimed predecessor, with more intense action, more provocative dialogue, and brighter cinematography. Rather than running through more of the same, it holds nothing back as it explores Batman's moral challenges (Christian Bale, in an awesome performance) and the Joker's terrifying vision (Heath Ledger, in a worthy final role).
Without question, this film stands up and deserves to be taken as seriously as such crime drama classics as The Godfather. All sorts of audiences will enjoy it and it restores might to the once-weak Batman franchise.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
