I only saw this because I had seen everything else playing, but to my surprise this has to be one of the finest films of the year. From the opening scene, even before the credits you immediately realize how incredible and well told a story this is. Its funny and smart. You'll find yourself constantly surprised and amused by the relationship of these two unlikely friends and their friendship changes both of their lives. Although its a hard to find art house foreign film in subtitles, make a point of seeing it. Its truly great!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Rather than remaking the same film that Schwarenegger starred in, this is a reboot and reworking of the story with less tongue in cheek and more fist in the face action. The pace is extremely brisk. For those who have seen the original, there are little treats and for those who have not, this stands very well on its own for a new generation. Its a different story but with the same concept. Is it real or is it recall? Does it matter? Frankly, no! Its fun and a great summer thrill ride.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Although not a total flop, this should have been better than it was. The cast is strong but the story was not. Had it kept to its true self, a story about a group of guys who were avoiding their own lives and bonded, it might have worked. Or if it was just an alien story it had the chance to work. But the blend of the two as a comedy somehow did not quite come together. There are some very funny moments and some hilarious sight gags, but that isn't enough to carry a movie even if it might work for a digital short. Wait for it to come to tv.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

As usual Chistopher Nolan has created a film about the Batman where twists and turns are to be expected even if at times predictable yet satisfying. The story line begun with the first film continues in unexpected ways and with the return of a few familiar characters and the introduction of a few new ones most notably Catwoman and Bane. If you can re-watch the two previous films before you see this one, some of the details will be clearer. Its quite stylish and exactly what you have come to expect in this series with the last scene leaving you wishing Nolan would continue directing another installment.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, where does he get those wonderful toys?
Yes, I recommend this movie.

With an all star cast that increases with each new film, the Ice Age franchise show no signs of slowing down. The visuals are both creative and smart. Scrat the crazy squirrel continues on his endless quest for that elusive acorn as usual without a word spoken but laughs galore. The rest of the herd go about their latest adventure in typical but entertaining fashion with the addition of grandma played by Wanda Sykes. Its good family fare and easy to forget.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Pixar has crafted a tale of pride and defiance, and then takes it to its logical conclusion showing the damage pride can cause relationships. Its not quite the way the previews market it. Its better. There's humor, heart, and a message especially, but not exclusively, for girls. The story is well told and the animation is simply excellent. Its great entertainment for the whole family.
Pros good animation
Yes, I recommend this movie.

So, who are the savages? This drug dealing tale has both sides believing the others are, but in the end, they all are. The Americans are the "good guys" who become compromised by their success and the intrusion of the Mexican cartel. The twist is their menage a trois that requires a huge suspension of disbelief. Its very stylish with intrigue like a spy story. John Travolta steps away from his usual character to play a corrupt DEA agent playing all sides against the middle. Selma Hayek plays the ruthless drug lord with a soft spot for the daughter who rejects her. The directing is good even if the story feels contrived. While not Stone's finest work, it will hold your attention.
Pros well paced, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Coming after last year's terrific film "Midnight in Paris", "To Rome With Love" comes across as a huge disappointment with wooden acting and a tired plot. I really enjoy Woody Allen and even met him once, but this is a far cry from what he is capable of creating. Simply put this was not worth paying money to see.
Alec Baldwin's acting, if you can call it that, was so stiff and tired that I wanted to order him a double shot of espresso. A movie can not be carried by its setting alone, which of course was beautiful. There has to be a good story, and that was sadly absent here. Woody looked old and tired and his timing was poor. Its a pity to see such a wonderful cast.wasted like this. It pains me to write this bad review, but trust me, its earned it. If you would like to see him in top form go see "Midnight In Paris" and skip this stinker!
Cons slow
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Don't expect another Toby McGuire film here. The tone is far different. Andrew Garfield brings a new dimension to the story. The focus is less sentimental and more about the coming of age of a teenager who is trying to find his place in the world. There is more mystery about who his parents were and what they were involved in. In many ways its a more serious film. The action is good but there is clearly not as much emotional connection.
I liked it, but it wasn't what I was expecting.
Stan Lee's cameo may be the best one he's done. And as typical in a Marvel film, there is an extra scene after the credits begin to roll.

Yes, I recommend this movie.

Seth MacFarlane makes his directorial debut with this hysterical and very politically incorrect comedy which tells a surprisingly sweet tale of a middle age man (Mark Wahlberg) who is trying to reach maturity in his relationships. If you are a Family Guy fan, you'll know the voice of Ted (MacFarlane) as Peter. Mila Kunis plays the cool, patient, and successful girlfriend. The cameos are simply great.
If you haven't seen the 80s flick "Flash Gordon" and his enemy the Emperor Ming watch a minute of it with the music of Queen on youtube before seeing this to be able to appreciate the party scene, You'll thank me for it!
Don't go if you are easily, or for that matter, at all offended because there is no one, no race, nor religion that he does not take aim at from the opening scene until the very end. The comedic timing is on the mark as is the CGI that makes Ted seem totally believable. Its a pity they didn't think to market Ted bears at the theater. They would have mad a fortune!
Pros very funny
Yes, I recommend this movie.
