Travolta is Bolt

This is plain and simple a great family film. Although the media is making Myley Cyrus out to be the co-star with Travolta, the real co-star is Susie Essman as the street cat. She really steals the show along with Mark Walton as the Hampster. The story is simple. Girl buys dog. Dog becomes a star with super powers. Dog loses girl. Dog seeks out to find her and in so doing finds himself with the help of the friends he makes along the way. And in the end dog learns that character is the real super power.
The 3D is less awesome than Journey to the Center of the Earth but its fun and easy on the eyes like this whole movie. My kids and I really enjoyed it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Range of emotion

Out on the Western range cowboys are usually one dimensional characters. In Appaloosa, Ed Harris masterfully directs them in levels of understated yet complicated emotions. He's carefully cast and directed every actor to create a tapestry of personalities that weave into a unique and refreshing tale of the old west.
Realizing that he is being used and played by his girlfriend, Harris as the Marshall stands by her because she brings something deeper into his life than he has ever experienced. But this tests both friends and foes and leads to the inevitable climax. Although people will try to compare this western to others, it truly stands alone.
For both the acting and the class act directing this is a must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Irresistable!

I was expecting the usual tired sequel, but this movie had me from the very opening. Its smart, its funny, and its well done. Its not just for kids, although they will love this! This movie has more than enough inside jokes to keep adults giddy with delight.
The cast is quite impressive and work well together as an ensemble.
The story is simple. Its a tale of acceptance for who you are even when you're a little different. Several stories intertwine seamlessly leading to hilarious unexpected moments as insane elements unite to make you laugh out loud.
There's something for everyone here. This is the surprise hit of the season.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Intellectual and ironic

De Niro is in top form here as a Hollywood producer being pressured at every turn of his life both professional and personal. Barry Levinson has given us a scathing look at the film business and all who are a part of it. Bruce Willis is at his self mocking best as he throws a fit over shaving. Micheal Wincott's fit on hearing that he has to recut the end of his film is over the top and perfect. In fact, everyone here seems to throw a fit at one point or another. And they should. Its a pressure cooker of big budgets and big ego. Like he did in Wag the Dog, Levinson portrays the heart of the insanity known best by insiders.
Its a stressful film to watch but its worth it for the fine acting and directing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Fun love story

Both Michael Cera and Kat Dennings were great! The supporting cast added spice to this love story and helped make it work. The plot weaves through a serendipitous night out clubbing in the big city looking for a surprise concert of a special group. Each of their old relationships repeatedly come back to interfere with their budding odd ball romance. To sew it all together their respective sidekicks add to the nuttiness of the tale as it comes apart and then back together again and again.
Its a bit cute so it might not suite the taste of some guys. I loved it but my son just liked it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Almost Good but...

Great acting and directing of just another pointless Middle East spy flick with the same message that the spy community is run by idiots. There's a shocker. Leonardo DiCaprio does a great job with the material but he's really got no place to go. Russel Crowe is good as a middle aged paunchy CIA office man but frankly he's wasted in this role. The cinematography is compelling. I just wish the script was too. Its a long well done film that goes nowhere. See it for the acting but don't expect to be satisfied. You're probably better off waiting for the DVD.

Excitement and surprises but weak plot

The pace is simply furious and violent. This is an unabashed all action flick with eye popping car chases. From the very beginning you are never quite sure as to what is happening but frankly it hardly matters. Think of this film as a roller coaster ride. Its all about the thrills and there are plenty here.
If you've seen "I Robot" you will feel that the plot is recycled, but if you're looking for the plot, you shouldn't even be watching this. This movie is all adrenaline rush and surprises right up till the end. If you enjoy action you'll love this one.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Predictable thriller with good acting

Samuel L. Jackson plays a racist cop who takes a strong dislike to his new mixed race neighbors. The movie's best line overplayed in the trailers says it all. There's a problem with his color. Its blue. He's a cop and he abuses his power on and off the job. His daughter resents him. He intimidates his other neighbors. And its obvious where this movie is going. There are no surprises. You just wish the writers had a bit more imagination. But the acting and directing are strong and you do get caught up in the brooding nature of the story. It has the feel of a made for tv movie. Not bad, not great.

Satire not comedy and not for everyone

First, this movie is loaded with strong language and a scene with strong sexual overtones, so be forewarned and don't go if you are easily offended and don't bring the kids regardless.
Second, this is a far cry from their last film No Country. Its all about irony not comedy even though there are some huge belly laughs. All the acting, even the minor parts are strong. But if you are looking for a standard movie with a normal plot this is not going to please you.
The Coen Brothers satire the CIA and trust in general. Faithfulness is nonexistent. As usual in their films there is a strong focus on powerful bizarre visual images.
Two of us loved it, two left without getting it at all. It is that kind of movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Strong language, politically incorrect, unique

Ben Stiller and his friends are having a field day here satirizing Hollywood. Actor's egos, agent's preoccupations, writer's lies, and mogul's madness. Its predictable, yet its not. Its a variation of Stiller's usual formula, but with a lot of twists by a twisted, sick, and wrong script which is just what you should expect in one of his comedies. There are many insider references and jokes and it helps to have watched tons of movies coming into this. Its uneven but the laughs are hard. There are many stars making great cameo performances like Tom Cruise, Tobey McGuire, and Lance Bass. Downey is great! Enjoy the pretend previews. They do tie in later like Steve Coogan's good taste.
This movie will offend some, but its funny and unique.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
