Although My Bloody Valentine is not exactly a great movie (in fact, it's not even a good movie necessarily), it is a nice throwback to the early 80's slasher genre, which is a good thing in the modern era of torture porn and J-Horror wannabe's. That said, watching it in 3-D is pretty much required, as it does add a nice visceral thrill to the whole proceedings, and makes the movie much more fun. Outside of 3-D, it's little more than an adequate 80's throwback, I'd imagine. But with 3-D, it somehow becomes much more. That said, it's still very gory, jolting, and includes an abundance of nudity. But if that's the kind of stuff you don't like, you probably aren't reading this review anyway.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
