entertaining and fun but pretty goofy

like a wild ride at universal studios. the film virtually exploded into a raccous ride with john cusack's family attempting to survive an imploding planet. sometime in the first 38 minutes i unexpectedly laughed out loud for the first time when the escape vehicle - a stretch limo - drove into one of hundreds of collapsing/exploding buildings. there was a millisecond pause, the building slow motion disintegrated then suddenly, the cusack limo burst through the mayhem completely intact and continued to roar through it's fantastical escape. never a dull moment but due to the peppered goofiness, no genuine suspense. simply crazy cinematic fun watching john cusack (perfect) save his family from the special effects.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
