I've come to not expect too much from kids movies....sometimes they are great, many times the plot is recycled and predictable. UP was colorful, vibrant, full of life, included heartaches, heartbreaks, and of course, the triumph of good over evil...the dawning of an unlikely friendship that would last, bullies getting their comeuppance from a super dog named Doug, - in all an UP-lifting movie. Some of the sentiment may have been above the heads of the younger audience, but they did not notice as the colors and the action were enough for them.
Lots of action, lots of emotion, lots of sorrow, not too much joy. Some funny moments. But excellent really. Loved seeing Wolverine's history. Loved the 3 or 4 references to my favorite show, LOST.
I took my 5 and 7 yr old boys- they looked around and asked why the theater was full of girls "Why'd you bring us to a GIRL's movie mommy?" But by the end they were clapping and cheering. We came home and bought the song "How does she know you love her" and play it constantly. It is a feel good wholesome movie. We all loved it.
