I am so tired of the professional critics. It seems these days that whatever they say, I end up thinking the opposite. I was excited to see this movie after previews, but worried after it got torn apart by the critics. Not to let that phase me, I went anyways and am very glad I did. This movie was fantastic. Great action, intense thrill ride the whole way through. Good special effects, but not over the top. Movie was gritty and realistic. And it is always a plus when I get to see LA get destroyed. I think Aaron Eckhart did a great job acting and as always, you have your quintessential tough girl, Michelle Rodriguez who never lets down. The best way I can sum up this movie would be to call it a Black Hawk Down with aliens.
When I first saw the previews for this movie, they were really cryptic, but caught my attention. I was very interested. After doing some research, I found that this is another set of movies based on a book series. The intention was to find a replacement to replace the Twilight and Potter blockbusters that are coming to an end. In that, I think they failed. They jumped on to a series that is still very new and has not gained the popularity that either of the other two already had as books. You can see the obvious effort at attracting the tween fans especially casting the girl from Glee. I was very disappointed with the build up and a majority of the acting. But when it came down to the action and effects, it was downright grabbing. I especially enjoyed the lore behind the movie and think it should prove very interesting for the series. Even though the movie was not so great most of the way through, the last 30 minutes had me sitting there with jaw dropped. I loved the intense action and special effects and hope that when the second movie comes out, we can get straight to the fun stuff now that the back story has been introduced thoroughly.
When I saw the preview for this movie, I thought "Chick Flick". But after seeing the that it got really high reviews by both critics and fans alike, I was intrigued. It definitely wasn't the movie I was expecting. It was two stories intertwined into one. The beginning of a marriage and the end of one. It was gripping, happy, and sad all at once. Good acting and good writing. It was a reminder that not everything in life has a happy ending. It wasn't what I was wanting to see at the time, but I wasn't going to let that affect what I thought about the movie. The story still hit home for me and I am sure many people.
2nd time I have watched this. I was hoping that this time I wouldn't be disappointed by the 3D. I was still disappointed. I find it very frustrating when the previews to the movie are more eye popping in 3D than the actual movie. The movie itself is still fantastic. I love the dude moments and Olivia Wilde. Story is good even though there was some unfinished business left open. Probably for another sequel. I still will have to go see this without the 3D so that I will have nothing to be disappointed about.
What a great movie. Jeff is sure in his old age acting prime right now and I barely even recognized Matt. The girl showed more grit than either of them. Great casting job on this movie. I saw the original once, but it was many years ago so I can't make a fair comparison. Maybe that was better. It kept me from going in with any preconceptions about the movie. Well written, great acting. Good movie about true determination. Definitely worth seeing.
I had been waiting for this movie for quite awhile and was happy to see that even the professional critics were giving it good reviews. I am a fan of just about everything Natalie Portman does. She is a great actress and a true beauty. Let me tell you, this movie will seriously mess with your head. It is an all around great written, great directed, and great acted movie. I was entranced the whole way through wondering what was going to happen next. It was a very nice change from the movie norm that I am accustomed to. I think it is a must see for any adult.
I went into this movie expecting nothing. I was just bored last night and was mildly interested in it. Ended up having the whole theater to myself, the way it should be. I came out very satisfied with the movie. Acting was not amazing, but still decent and it didn't hurt to watch. Story was not even there, but they really moved it along quickly so you could watch the good stuff that you really wanted to see. Great action. I am a sucker for sword fighting. I must have been a knight or something in a previous life. The move was just the right length, not too long, not too short. I love red curly hair and even though I am not a huge fan of Kate, her hair made it all work for me. The action scenes were great. The backdrop was very interesting. I totally dug the east meets west in this kitchy comic book style way. This had all the good parts of the movies we love and didn't bother to waste our time with filler. Makes for a great way to waste a couple of hours.
I have been extremely excited to see this movie ever since the first preview I saw during Avatar last year. In fact, I had probably hyped it up so much for myself that it was in great danger of failing. Luckily, that was not the case. I found the entire move absolutely fantastic except for one thing. The 3D. Boy was I disappointed with that. After seeing movies like Avatar, Alice In Wonderland, and even Resident Evil: Afterlife, this one fell way short in the 3D department. In fact, there was a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie stating that some of it was in 2D and that was how they meant to do it. Seems like a poor job of covering up a bad 3D film job. But putting that aside, the rest was outstanding. The effects were fantastic and the whole world created was visually stunning. The game scenes had me on the edge of my seat. I could not turn away from the screen for the entire movie. I absolutely loved that Jeff Bridges was back in there and despite some very evident "Dude" moments, he did great. Olivia Wilde was stunning. Beautiful and played her part very, very well. Garrett, the lead actor did an acceptable job. Unfortunately, the disappointing 3D got this a 4 star rating instead of 5, but when I go again next week and don't see it in 3D, there will be nothing to disappoint me and it will receive the 5 star rating it deserves.
I thought this movie was going to be interesting, but turns out it was fantastic. The story moved just fast enough to tell you what was going on while keeping you enthralled the whole way. Russell did an exceptional job with this role. The rest of the cast was amazing as well. I could not turn away for one second during the entire film. I was completely gripped through the end. It begs the question, what would you do for the love of your wife?
When I saw the previews, I knew I would like this movie. And I loved it. Great acting, Bruce Willis is still tough as nails. Great action, good story, and just enough comedic elements made this movie a great ride the whole way through. A must see for any action fans out there. It is certainly an all star cast of retiree age actors.
