This will undoubtedly not be for everyone, but I found it to be one of the more disturbing and scary movies I've seen in quite some time. Give it a chance, allow the pervasiveness of the themes and visuals to overwhelm you and then look forward to debating art, madness and the cause and effect of each with your fellow cinephiles.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A worthy tribute/successor to the original and another feather in the caps of perhaps the greatest Hollywood filmmakers of the last 30 years. It (like most Coen joints) will probably be even more enjoyable upon multiple viewings, but on the first pass I loved how they interjected their sense of humor into the proceedings, kept the slow burn pacing of old-time westerns like the original and Hailee Steinfeld's awesome performance.
Things go boom as they should and there are some cool uses of powers in those scenes, particularly the opening assault by the Weapon X team. Liev Schreiber is good (as always), making Sabretooth villianous but human. Jackman is likeable...
...but lacks an edge that the character needs (and that he seemed to have a better handle on in X-Men and X2). There are giant plot holes, particularly in the second half as it tries to align itself with the previous films.
Decent popcorn flick that will probably delight and infuriate fandom in equal measure while the general public forgets about it by the time the next blockbuster is released.
