Well worth it

If you are a die hard fan of the Predators mythos (the kind of person that has seen all the movies and read the books and comics) enter this movie with caution. The movie completely revamps the Predator history and honor system, turning them into vicious hunters instead of honorable ones. If you leave that at the door and see it for what it is you'll enjoy it a lot more. Beyond that the story was great paying homage to the first film in many ways, perhaps a bit to much at times as it starts to feel like they're just ripping off scenes, while keeping the action and suspense steady and exciting.
Topher Grace and Alice Braga ore excellent and believable In their rolls, while Adrien Brody struggles to pull of the tough guy loner lead. The rest of the cast supports the leads nicely while helping to push the story forward.
The special effects in the movie are excellent. Believable while not overpowering or distracting. He did an awesome job of using the classic predator effects while adding some new ones as well. I was however dissapointed with the faces of the predators. Why is it that the recent movies staring predators think that the only part of their mouth to move is the mandibles. I would like to believe that it is a budget issue, but the originals managed to get the entire mouth to move so why can't they? Do they think that we are so simple minded that we'll just be awed by the mask and not notice? Or are they just lazy? Either way it was a rather sore point for me.
All in all though the move was fun and exciting to watch. If you're in the mood for an action movie with a great story, well placed and used action sequences and a couple of really good plot twists, then I would recommend seeing this.
