This isn't the best movie ever, but for what it is (a summer action, family friendly movie), it is definately worth seeing. This movie is visually impressive and is paced well. The acting and writing aren't award winning, but are solid enough not to detract from the movie. There is enough respect paid to the video game source material not to upset those that enjoy the games. In the end, this movie is above average entertainment and a good way to spend 2 hours of your time.

If I were to rate this movie on special effects alone, it would get a 5. However, it was a bit too long and there were a few iffy scenes. Overall, though, if you want an action packed movie with a few bits of humor, you can't go wrong with this one.

This movie gave a much needed jolt to the franchise. Yeah, it re-wrote the Star Trek history a bit, but it explained it well. Great acting, great special effects. This movie never dragged and even though it added youth to the series, it still paid respect to what came before it. I definately recommend it.
