You can see by Katherine Bigelow's resume that she likes to direct big, concussive , action movies and Hurt Locker is no exception. The story focuses on three men doing a very dangerous job in Iraq. They are part of a unit that disarms road side bombs and vehicles rigged to explode. The film gets into each man's head and their reason for doing this dangerous job. I watched parts of the movie through my fingers, it was so suspenseful. There is no moralizing about the war, it is really about these men. If you get upset easily at blood and gore, this is not the movie for you. Otherwise, I recommend this movie.
This was definitely better than most of the movies currently showing. BUT... it felt like the ending was tacked on after the fact. The cast was great- kudos to Aflack and Crowe- but the ending seemed to not belong with the rest of the movie- even taking into account the twists and turns .
