Big, loud, dumb, great effects. Very much in the spirit of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Thin on plot, doesn't make much sense. Sam Worthington is a decent actor and easy on the eyes, but his native Australian keeps coming and going.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I'd never seen the anime nor read the manga, so I went into it cold. It's an intriguing story with weird but entertaining mythology and character development. The dark ending feels right.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
