Loved it!

Yes, it was repetitive and, as usual, too many close-ups, which sometimes interfered with the action, but it was glorious.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is the second time I've seen this performance, and I will see it again. Patricia Racette may not look the part, but her voice and her acting are perfect for this role. Suzuki was also terrific. This is the best performance of Madama Butterfly I've ever seen. Thank you, Met Opera!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was one of the most exciting productions I've seen. I seem to have become a "Ring nut." I am so grateful for the opportunity to see such wonderful productions for practically nothing. I can't wait for the next two installments.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

TOO MANY CLOSE-UPS!

When more than one character is singing, it’s important to see all of them and how they react to each other.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Fabulous production

This is the best production I’ve ever seen, with a terrific cast. Kathleen Kim was a very convincing mechanical doll. But it's obvious that whoever directs the photography isn’t an opera-goer and doesn’t realize how important it is to see the full set and how the other characters are reacting – in other words, too many closeups. At least this time we weren’t subjected to those silly overhead shots.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Fabulous, BUT

Most of the opera is viewed in close-ups, so we miss the “big picture.” And the shots are constantly changing - I wanted to yell, STOP! The overhead shots are especially disorienting.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I love these telecasts, but there are too many close-ups. Also, this transmission had overhead shots that were extremely disorienting and distracting. This is opera, not Busby Berkely!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Loved it, but too many close-ups!

I love the Met telecasts, but as a regular opera-goer, I'm used to seeing the big picture, the full stage, which, unfortunately, rarely happens in these telecasts. In a duet, we need to see both singers, and we should see when a new character enters the stage.
I hate to complain about these wonderful telecasts, but alternating close-ups with the larger picture will give us the best of both worlds. Thank you, Met!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
