I can't rememeber the last time I saw a movie that was so fast paced that it never came up for air. There wasn't a dull second. It was literally a "rush to war". The dialogue was hysterical, the acting and directing first rate. It would be terrifying if it wasn't so funny because I think it was probably taken directly from real events. Sophisticated, nasty, urbane, it's got something for anybody that likes their entertainment without explosions. Go. Run.
Just watching Meryl Streep in that habit with her pursed lips and squinty eyes makes this one worth the price of admission. The screen adaptation of the stunning Pulitzer Prize winning play doesn't disappoint. The pleasure of this play/movie is that the audience is left to uncover the layers of doubt that exist in this church and its constricted population of pious nuns and priest who....well, you have to see the movie. Amy Adams is stunning as the innocent young nun as well as Viola Davis as the mother of the boy . Although Philip Seymour Hoffman was good, but a little understated. An immediate classic.
