From the standpoint of one who has seen all of the original movies (and even Freddy's Nightmares on TV to show how much of a loser I am), I can honestly say I enjoyed the remake and found it well done and entertaining. That's what I went for, and that's what I got. If seasoned "Nightmare" veterans go to this movie to recapture the same level of shock and horror they experienced on the very first one, they will be sadly disappointed. Part of the effectiveness of the first one was the freshness of the whole idea of people being attacked in their dreams. You can't duplicate that for people who have seen it over and over again. But the same old shock and horror is in this movie for those (like my 20 year old son) who have never seen any of the original movies. He is a pretty tough kid, but he had to stay up watching television for a couple of hours before he could go to sleep after the midnight show. Go see this movie--If you enjoy horror movies at all, you will enjoy this one!
