I liked the first movie better, because it offered more dialog and less action. The dialog in this movie, what there is of it, is very good. In one scene near the beginning, Stark is being grilled by a congressional committee and replies in a tea-party kind of way: "You want my property? You can’t have it." Overall I'd recommend it for the acting and for its somewhat explicit pro-property-rights message - but I'd especially recommend it for movie goers who like watching stuff blow up.
Since I saw the movie in 2D my experience may not have been as memorable as others'. To me the movie was good, but it wasn't as entertaining as some have written. Once the plot was set up there was 45 minutes or so before the climax, and during that time the movie dragged for me. That said, I appreciated the creativity, and the message. So, if you are an adult, and are not bringing children, you may be able to find a more entertaining choice.
"Hot Tub" is good, and probably worth your time - if you are looking for a comedy, and you've already seen "She's Out of My League". I'd give it 3.5 stars: better than average, but not quite as good as it could have been.
This is a good movie if you are looking to relax and have a good time at the movies. Funny and well-acted, this one doesn't have the slow spots apparant in many of today's comedies. Not quite as funny as "Something About Mary" but much closer than most.
I'm not a big fan of this particular Mr. Baldwin, so it took reading the reviews here to convince me to give this movie a try - in addition to the fact that my wife really wanted to see it. I'm glad we did; I laughed as much or more as I have during any recent movie. I think it would be best to see this movie before seeing any previews, since the funniest scene (laptop) is part of the trailer, but that scene is still funny the second time around. Enjoy!
If you enjoy intelligent movies, and are easily bored with non-stop action movies with meandering, fuzzy, plot lines, you'll enjoy Sherlock Holmes, too. A masterful combination of dialogue, story, and action. One of the best of 2009.
A good plot, good acting, real heroes, and palpable tension all combine for an enjoyable, moving experience. This is a feel good movie that isn't sappy in the least, displaying some of the best characteristics of great human beings: rationality, tenacity, focus, and integrity. Don't miss it!
This movie's not perfect, for several reasons, but it is better than most of today's movies. I liked the fact that it had a plot with some tension, as well as the fact that the young man who received help really did become a good person.
Outside of the "Ocean 11" series, I can't recall enjoying a movie that Clooney chose to be involved with. I think I'll pass on his movies in the future, at least until I've read other reviews here that change my mind. This movie wasn't really funny; I think it was trying to be serious and send some kind of message about supernatural powers, so if you are a reality-based guy like me you won't like it at all. I guess if you think what humans experience is an illusion, and the "real" world is out there, but impercetable to most, then maybe you'll enjoy this one.
Of all the vigilante movies, this one is much better than average. In fact, I almost gave it 5 stars. After I thought about it, though, it wasn't as good as "The Fugitive", which is my favorite in this genre. Certainly worth the price of the ticket and two hours of your time, though.
