As expected, the special effects in this flick are amazing, but the trite and excessively violent ending canceled out my good feelings about the first two-thirds of the movie. It was sad and pathetic to see the number of "adults" who brought small children to this movie. Many many little kids weeping and sobbing over the violence at the end, in which thousands of people were blown up, set on fire, killed in aircraft crashes, etc. What a waste when this otherwise could have been a brilliant film. It would seem James Cameron is just not that smart about much beyond marketing.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
