I was really happy they split this final installment in two, in truth, I wish they had done so with episodes 5 and 6 as well. At last it feels as if we're getting most of the book's content in the film version. I was not disappointed in the least that the film was not released in 3D. I would rather that the 2nd half not be in 3D either, just because I think it would be too gimmicky to offer it on only one installment out of 8, especially with such a dark tone to the story.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
