Like the actors' performances. Since I already knew the story behind the bull, I was wondering if/when its use would be revealed. However, the tinkering with the actual stories in the mythology make the movie inaccurate. The Greek gods meddled in the affairs of men all the time, so Zeus killing his son Apollo for saving a mortal was actually very out of character. It was also somewhat amusing for a 'pantheon' of ... 5 (?) gods to take on the Titans. I gues the producers couldn't find enough actors to play the rest of the gods/godesses?!
With so much information in the book, book 7 has been split into 2 movies, of which this was the 1st. Can't wait for the finale! Also, would almost wish that they had decided to do this for earlier books in the series, which left out many things in order to fit the story into one 2.5 hr film.
It's been quite a ride with this series. The producers could have split other books into two movies and not had to summarize as much. It was very important that this is a two part movie to stay true to the books. Waiting anxiously for the last one, and the remaining extended versions on blu-ray.
This is a GREAT movie! So much is going on, that we want to see it a few more times to pick up even more of the details ... What a concept! And, performed brilliantly! My daughter and I found ourselves frequently on the edge of our seats, and had to remind each other to sit back and relax! Totally engrossing!
I'm not up on the details of the TV series, so I thought the movie was pretty good. However, my daughter, who has watched the TV series, was disappointed, because too much was left out, actions weren't the same in both (i.e.what happened to the northern water bender princess). She also thought the special effects weren't as good as could be. I thought that the author of the series also produced/directed this movie. Maybe I'm wrong.
Good character development. Great scenery (China). Views of Kung Fu students and practioners, and skills shown were amazing. Respect shown at the end by the dojo students was both gratifying and appropriate.
Good plot and characterization! I was kept on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next! Great job by the actors/actress. Neat special effects of the desert environment and the 'sands of time.'
As soon as we started seeing the trailers, we wanted to see it. Later trailers had my daughter thinking it may be not worth seeing, but I 'twisted' her arm ... and we saw it first in 3D, and then went back the next day to see it in IMAX 3D! She absolutely loves it! A teenager, she didn't want the typical Disney-type movie where the producer hits you over the head with a lesson ... this movie had a lesson, true, but it was skillfully applied. This is a movie to be enjoyed by ALL ages (taking into account the PG rating) ... from young to old! She wants to go see it a few more times before it leaves the theater!
Johnny Depp was superb! As was the Cheshire cat! The story line was belieable, as a follow-on with Alice returning to Wonderland. One thing that was a bit annoying was the White Queen's exaggerated arm waving, seemed like an overactive Italian Valley girl socialite.
