I was expecting Christopher Walken to be his usual off the wall original self. I was delighted to find a cast of great actors who had a perfect script for character building and always surprising plot twists.
This one exceeded my expectations for interesting and amusing. It will not be ideal for conventional audiences looking for light family fare.
That made it perfect for me and my family.
Pros great story, great actors

I nice mass appeal vehicle for big name stars
which was entertaining without being anything close to a classic or something I would want to see more than once.

Well directed and well acted. Plot is contrived and a stretch for humor in more than a few places.

The perfectly cast actors brought this story to life in what should be award winning recognition. Lucas Black, first seen in Sling Blade with Duvall and Billy Bob Thornton as a youngster, is the glue that holds the pace and style together. If he can get the right movies we have the potential for the next super star. He stole "All the Pretty Horses" which, of course, was seen by no one but the director and we can have doubts about that. Of course, Duvall is at the top of his game with a role that was so perfect for the well tested geezer with a twitch that is his trademark that he had to be the force to get this just OK story told. Sissy is wonderful and Bill Murray turns in an underplayed, just sleezy enough for a smile performance. He just moved way beyond SNL and cheap comedy schtick in my eye for the first time. If you love great ensemble acting, see it. If you have Southern roots you must see it.

Refreshing and heartwarming

No gratuitous sex, nothing blew up, no special effects. Just fantastic acting and chemistry from some of the best.
Nice subtle elements in resolving plot issues, excellent directing, shooting and cutting.
Emma is HOT...from the neck up.
